Abstract:V magistrski nalogi smo najprej obravnavali področji spanja in težav s spanjem.

Title:Correlation between perfectionism and sleep disorders : masters thesis
Abstract:In this master's thesis, we first discussed the areas of sleep and sleep problems. Sleeping is a universal function of living beings, which amounts to one third of human life. Poor or insufficient sleep is associated with a number of disorders in most body systems. Our second focus area in the thesis was perfectionism. Perfectionism is characterised by striving for flawlessness and setting excessive functioning standards, which is accompanied by a tendency to overly critically assess one's behaviour. Over the past few decades, much research has been focused on the study of the correlation between perfectionism, psychological adaptation and disorders. Regarding the correlation between perfectionism and sleep problems, some researchers pointed out as early as in the 1980s that the arousal that is typical of sleep deprivation is actually an emotional arousal arising from an anxious and perfectionist personality style. The main purpose of the master's thesis was to investigate this connection between sleep disorders and selected dimensions of perfectionism in a sample of students of the School of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica (SASS). Its basic objective was to examine whether perfectionism can be a precursor of sleep disorders. In the empirical part of the thesis, we conducted quantitative research by surveying SASS students. We used the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale to collect data. Our research showed a correlation between sleep disorders and perfectionism or one of its particular manifestations: anxiety arising from the fear of potentially making mistakes and doubts about personal actions. The results of this study, which suggest a correlation between perfectionism and insomnia, may be useful in developing new treatments to combat sleep disorders.
