V teoretičnem delu najprej navedemo teoretična izhodišča kognitivno-vedenjske terapije, opišemo avtomatske misli in miselne napake. V nadaljevanju predstavimo notranji govor in vrste negativnega notranjega govora.

Title:The impact of cognitive distortions on behaviour : diploma thesis
Abstract:Cognitive-behavioral therapy is concerned with understanding how events and experiences are interpreted and identifying and changing distortions or deficits that occur in cognitive processing. Automatic thoughts are one of the basic concepts of cognitive therapy and are characteristic of all people. They usually appear automatically, spontaneously. These thoughts are just below the surface of conscious thought. In other words, it is our inner speech. If automatic thoughts are wrongly derived conclusions based on the situation, then we are talking about thought distortions or thought errors. These thinking errors occur in our negative internal dialogue, and negative internal dialogue can be the culprit behind our dysfunctional behaviors. In this Bachleor's degree, we investigate the impact of cognitive distortions on people's behavior. People talk to themselves positively or negatively because of their daily obligations, various situations that happen to us, and the various emotions that we experience at the same time. Our behavior also depends on this. That's why we wanted to check how people think and behave. In theoretical part, first we state the theoretical starting points of cognitive behavioral therapy, describe automatic thoughts and cognitive distortions. In the following, we present inner speech and types of negative inner speech. The last part of theoretical part concerns human behavior. In the empirical part, we present the results collected through semi-structured interviews. The results represent the responses of five participants who voluntarily participated in the survey. By analyzing the data, we were able to confirm the assumption that people basically have a more negative internal dialogue that affects more dysfunctional behaviors. The findings show that mental errors cause us to see ourselves, others and different situations and the future in a distorted, unrealistic way and therefore behave self-destructively or dysfunctionally. The results confirmed that the use of cognitive-behavioral techniques helps the majority of participants to perceive and change the negative internal dialogue. As a result, it contributes to more functional behavior.
