Te označbe so odraz nerazumevanja in nevednosti, kar potisne človeka še v hujšo nemoč ravno v času, ko najbolj potrebuje razumevanje in oporo.

Title:A case analysis of risk factors for burnout, the disease process, its treatment and rehabilitation : masters thesis
Abstract:Burnout syndrome has been a much-discussed topic over the last decade or two and recognised as an epidemic of modern times. The environment we live in is not supportive, and technological progress is relentless. Our leisure time is increasingly limited. This requires the individual to do many things that go against his or her nature, personal traits and values. The present master's thesis entitled "A Case Analysis of Risk Factors for Burnout, the Disease Process, its Treatment and Rehabilitation" discusses various aspects leading to burnout. Foremost, two risk factors are considered: undesirable stress as an external factor, and personality traits increasing the risk of burnout as an internal factor. These factors can lead to the occurrence of burnout. Burnout as a phenomenon is holding up a mirror to our society, in which capital prevails over a human being, and where values such as cooperation, solidarity and social justice are being lost. The theoretical part establishes the important role that our emotions, experiences and personality traits play in the primary family which is where we gain our first experience in dealing with emotions. The empirical part of the thesis consists of a case study that portrays burnout through various phases, both from a chronological and substantive perspective, supported by research and professional literature. The case study begins with the time before burnout occurs, in which self-evaluation and interpersonal relationships is researched in detail; further the burnout state is described; and in continuation the treatment of burnout at the primary and secondary levels is presented, which is crucial for the diagnosis and follow-up. The final part of the thesis expounds on the key elements of rehabilitation and reintegration into the working environment as well as life post-burnout. Therefore, it takes a critical stance towards the generalisation that an individual with an experience of burnout is lazy and feigning illness. These characterisations are a reflection of misunderstanding and ignorance which makes an individual feel even more powerless at a time when he or she needs understanding and support the most. One of the aims of this thesis is thus also to raise awareness among the general public of the incidence and characteristics of burnout.
