Abstract:V magistrski nalogi obravnavamo vpliv medijske pismenosti na družbeno neenakost. V uvodu opredelimo termine, kot sta medijska pismenost in družbena neenakost. Sledi podrobnejši pregled medijske pismenosti in medijskih veščin.

Title:The impact of media literacy on social inequality
Abstract:This thesis observes the influence of media literacy on social inequality. The introduction defines key concepts, such as media literacy and social inequality. This is followed by an in-depth exploration of media literacy and its associated competencies. Recognizing the complex nature of social inequality, the study employs a nuanced Bourdieusian framework to dissect it into economic, cultural, and social capital. The subsequent section employs literature to delineate the interconnections and possible impact of media literacy on social inequality. The theoretical part is followed by the empirical part, where we verify and compare our topic based on the results obtained through a questionnaire. This empirical part seeks to validate the hypotheses articulated in the introduction, substantiated both by statistical evidence and insights based on the questionnaire results. In this part, we endeavour to assess the influence of media literacy on social inequality through the utilization of statistical tests conducted using the PSPP software. Lastly, a synthesis of the core findings of the study is then presented, culminating in a conclusion where the author expresses their personal perspective regarding the subject. The outcomes of this thesis show that there is an impact of media literacy on social inequality, while also revealing areas for further exploration. The findings suggest that media literacy influences the individual's economic and social capital, though without significantly affecting cultural capital.
