Abstract:Živimo v svetu, ki narekuje hiter tempo življenja. V diplomski nalogi smo predstavili čuječnost, programe in pristope, povezane s čuječnostjo, formalne in neformalne prakse čuječnosti, čuječnost na delovnem mestu in čuječnost v znanosti.

Title:Mindfulness as a tool for coping with stress among employees
Abstract:We live in a world that dictates a fast pace of life. In work environments, the expectations of superiors are increasingly growing. An environment based on competitiveness and evaluation leads us to exhaustion. Stress is highly prevalent in today's society and affects individuals in multiple areas, including physical, mental, and behavioral aspects. The purpose of this thesis is to explore mindfulness as a tool for coping with stress among employees. In the following sections of the thesis, these two areas are presented in more detail, and foreign articles and research on this topic are also included. In this thesis, we have presented stress, workplace stress, its symptoms and phases, and ways of coping with stress. In the thesis, we have also introduced mindfulness, programs and approaches related to mindfulness, formal and informal mindfulness practices, mindfulness in the workplace, and mindfulness in science. We conducted a study with eight individuals who are employed and have been practicing mindfulness for at least one year. For the research, we chose a qualitative approach and conducted structured interviews to learn how individuals perceive stress in themselves, how much time they dedicate to mindfulness practice, and how they use it. Particularly, we were interested in whether mindfulness practice helps them cope with stress. Based on the gathered data, we found that mindfulness practice is useful as a tool for managing stress. The participants report that the use of mindfulness helps them both in their workplace and in their private lives. They experience greater relaxation at work, find it easier to handle work tasks, become more productive, focused, and calm. They have also noticed improved relationships among colleagues. In their personal lives, they have better relationships with partners and friends.
