Abstract: | This thesis explores sustainable practices in the craft brewing industry, focusing on environmental, economic, and social challenges as breweries meet consumer demand for eco-friendly products.
The study identifies the main drivers and barriers, including financial constraints, regulatory complexities, and limited expertise. Examining current trends, consumer behaviours, and technological innovations gives practical solutions and strategic recommendations for making the sector more sustainable.
The findings highlight opportunities like cost savings, market differentiation, and community engagement, even though challenges like financial and knowledge gaps exist. Emphasising the need for economic incentives, education, and standardised metrics, the research shows the role of community partnerships in advancing sustainability.
The thesis offers a framework for implementing sustainable practices and aligning business success with environmental and community goals. It ends with recommendations for future research on better assessment tools and new brewing technologies to further reduce environmental impacts, paving the way for a more sustainable future in craft brewing. |
