V teoretskem delu smo skozi predstavljene značilnosti vojnega diskurza pojasnili vpliv medijev v času vojne in nato z razlago zgodovinskih primerov bralcu pojasnili moč medijskih okvirjev na svojo interpretacijo dogodkov.

Title:FRAMING THE RUSSO-UKRAINIAN WAR
Abstract:During the war period, the influence of the media is extremely high. This classifies them among the tools of extraordinary power which can be compared to military weapons. In addition to the dissemination of propaganda messages by the involved countries trying to persuade the audience to their point of view, the reporting also includes techniques which allow the non-involved countries to sway their audiences to the side of a particularly country stands. These techniques or mechanisms are called media frames, which are hidden from the public and can only be recognized in a detailed analysis of media content. In our research work, we studied the contents of the most popular Slovenian online portal 24ur during the Russian offensive in Ukraine. We focused on the qualitative analysis of the media frames which were used in war reporting. These frames play a key role in shaping the perception of war events by the Slovenian audience. The analysis sample included 11 online articles selected from the first 20 days of the war. In the theoretical part, through the presented characteristics of the war discourse, we explained the influence of the media during the war. Next, by explanation of historical examples, we explain to the reader the power of media frames on our interpretation of events. Through the analysis in the empirical part, we found that in the selected sample among the standard frames described by Semetko and Valkenburg (2000), the human interest frame dominates. Nevertheless, we noticed that on the 24ur.com web portal we find in the war discourse all four frames, which indicates a rather balanced approach to reporting, with a bit of more emphasis on children, refugees, civilians and their emotions. Occasionally we also noted favoritism for one side of the conflict, especially in emphasizing Russian responsibility as the aggressor.
