Vodja vzpostavlja jasna pričakovanja glede kakovosti dela in standardov oskrbe pacientov ter spodbuja kulturo odličnosti, kjer so cenjeni nenehno izboljševanje, učenje in inovacije. Poleg tega vodja gradi zaupanje in sodelovanje med člani tima ter zagotavlja potrebne vire, usposabljanje in podporo za zagotavljanje visokokakovostne nege. Z vzorčenjem primernih vedenj, spodbujanjem učinkovite komunikacije in povratnih informacij ter spremljanjem uspešnosti in kakovostnih meril vodja omogoča reševanje težav, izboljšanje procesov dela in optimizacijo oskrbe pacientov. Naslov:The role of the manager and its influence on the quality of work in the nursing team
Opis:Introduction: The role of a leader in healthcare has a significant impact on the quality of work within the healthcare team. The leader establishes clear expectations regarding the quality of work and patient care standards and promotes a culture of excellence, where continuous improvement, learning, and innovation are valued. Additionally, the leader builds trust and collaboration among team members and ensures the necessary resources, training, and support for delivering high-quality care. By modeling appropriate behaviors, encouraging effective communication and feedback, and monitoring performance and quality metrics, the leader enables problem-solving, improvement of work processes, and optimization of patient care. In summary, the role of a leader in healthcare significantly contributes to creating an environment where the healthcare team can achieve high-quality care and positive outcomes for patients. Method: For the research, we utilized a quantitative method of data collection, enabling us to identify the subjective viewpoints of the participants in the study, which contributed to our final findings. The research method employed was descriptive, allowing us to describe and interpret the key concepts within our study area, along with an analytical approach to dissect the primary data obtained through an anonymous online survey conducted via the web platform www.1ka.si. Results: The survey questionnaires were distributed among 450 healthcare professionals at the General Hospital Celje. In the research section, we formulated 4 research questions and 4 hypotheses. Based on the results obtained from the responses to the completed survey questionnaires, we confirmed all four hypotheses. Data analysis revealed a statistically significant correlation between the leader's involvement in nursing handovers/shift reports and their leadership role, confirming the first hypothesis. The majority of respondents (87.8%) reported that leaders are most frequently involved in nursing handovers/shift reports. The second hypothesis was also confirmed, as we found a positive influence of the leader's involvement in departmental work on employee satisfaction. The analysis showed a statistically significant correlation (Spearman's coefficient = 0.489, p-value < 0.05) between the statement "The leader is involved in the departmental work process" and employee satisfaction, which was positive and moderately strong. The third hypothesis was confirmed, indicating a positive impact of the leader's involvement in work processes on the quality of work performed in the department. Statistical analysis revealed a statistically significant correlation (Spearman's coefficient = 0.495, p-value < 0.05) between the statement "The leader is involved in the departmental work process" and the statement "How often do you feel encouraged by the leader to perform your work with quality and professionalism?", which was positive and moderately strong. The fourth hypothesis was also confirmed, demonstrating a relationship between better relationships between the leader and employees and better work performance in the department. Respondents agreed that good interpersonal relationships contribute to better quality healthcare. Wilcoxon test results showed a statistically significant higher average value (AS = 4.8; Me = 5) compared to the test value (4), confirming the importance of positive relationships for effective organizational functioning. In summary, the findings indicate that leaders play a significant role in healthcare teams, as their involvement in departmental work positively influences employee satisfaction and the quality of work performed. The research conducted at the General Hospital Celje revealed that employees are most satisfied with leaders who demonstrate empathy, motivation, and fairness. Furthermore, good relationships between the leader and employees are crucial for ensuring better quality healthcare. The importance of quality principles is emphasized, with a high priority given to providing quality patient care.
