Medkulturne kompetence v poslovanju so skupek kognitivnih, afektivnih in vedenjskih veščin, ki prispevajo k učinkoviti in ustrezni poslovni komunikaciji v medkulturnih organizacijah.

Title:The importance of intercultural competences in corporations
Abstract:Global corporations aiming to succeed in the international market must have managers capable of not only understanding and adapting to different cultures but also effectively leading and motivating teams in these environments. The question arises as to whether companies understand the impact of intercultural differences and, in addition to traditional professional competencies, recognize the importance of intercultural competencies in the selection and development of management personnel that they relocate to different cultures. Intercultural competences in business are a set of cognitive, affective, and behavioral skills that contribute to effective and appropriate business communication in intercultural organizations. A review of selected professional literature highlights the importance of culture and its dimensions and their connection to the business world. Findings show that understanding intercultural differences and the ability to lead in an intercultural environment is a competitive advantage, as it enables companies to better understand customer needs and expectations, adapt strategies to different cultural environments, and improve reputation and trust in the international market. The respondents in the study are employees who were reassigned to leadership positions in different cultural environments within the selected corporation (the company's real name is not disclosed due to research ethics) and have lived and worked in these diverse environments for over three years. Empirical findings indicate that all respondents confirmed high relevance of intercultural competencies and emphasized their direct connection to competitive advantage. The level of individual awareness is high, but transferring this knowledge and practices to the organizational level will require more time and additional activities proposed by profession and the respondents. This research offers valuable insight into the topic and can help future reassigned employees understand the importance of cultural differences and provide management with encouragement to improve in this area. Although the research is tied to a specific corporation, it can also assist management and employees in other corporations operating globally, likely facing similar issues in their business activities.
