Opis:Izhodišča: Starostne spremembe pri starostnikih vodijo do hitrejših poškodb glave, medtem ko fiziološke spremembe v možganih poslabšajo izide zdravljenja in otežujejo zdravstveno nego. Za empirični del so bili zbrani in analizirani podatki, pridobljeni s tehniko intervjuvanja z vnaprej pripravljenimi vprašanji. V raziskavo smo vključili šest izvajalcev zdravstvene nege z delovnimi izkušnjami pri obravnavi starostnikov s poškodbo glave. Sekundarne podatke smo pridobili s pregledom strokovne in znanstvene literature domačih in tujih avtorjev. Literaturo smo iskali v podatkovnih bazah COBISS, PubMed, Google Učenjak in ScienceDirect. Rezultati: Izzivi medicinskih sester so prepoznavanje simptomov poškodb glave, preprečevanje zapletov in padcev, spodbujanje rehabilitacije, prilagajanje oskrbe individualnim potrebam ter sodelovanje z multidisciplinarnim timom in družinami. Negovalne diagnoze, ki so prisotne pri starejših s poškodbo glave, so: zmanjšana sposobnost prilagoditve znotraj lobanje, tveganja za neučinkovito prekrvavitev možganov, aspiracijo, neučinkovit dihalni vzorec, okužbo in akutno bolečino. Najpogosteje izvajane življenjske aktivnosti so spremljanje vitalnih funkcij, aplikacija zdravil, pomoč pri osnovnih dejavnostih in preprečevanje zapletov, ki so prilagojene posamezniku in temeljijo na teoriji Virginie Henderson. Medicinske sestre svojce informirajo, izobražujejo, jim dajejo čustveno podporo, jih koordinirajo in motivirajo.

Naslov:ASPECT OF MEDICAL CARE OF THE ELDERLY AFTER HEAD INJURY
Opis:Background: Age-related changes in older adults lead to an increased risk of head injuries, while physiological changes in the brain worsen treatment outcomes and complicate healthcare. In this study, we examined various aspects of nursing care for older adults following a head injury. We described the challenges of nursing care, examined the most common nursing diagnoses, defined key life activities, and investigated the role of the nurse in involving relatives in the treatment of the elderly after a head injury. Method: The research was based on a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. For the empirical part, data were collected and analyzed through semi-structured interviews with pre-prepared questions. The study used a purposive sample of six nurses who had already encountered the management of older adults with head injuries. Secondary data were obtained through a review of professional and scientific literature by both domestic and foreign authors. The literature search was conducted in databases such as COBISS, PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect. Results: The challenges for nurses are recognizing the symptoms of head injuries, preventing complications and falls, promoting rehabilitation, adapting care to individual needs, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and families. Nursing diagnoses present in the elderly with head injury are: reduced capacity for intracranial adaptation, risks for ineffective cerebral perfusion, aspiration, ineffective breathing pattern, infection, and acute pain. The most frequently performed life activities are the monitoring of vital functions, the application of medications, assistance with basic activities and the prevention of complications, which are adapted to the individual and based on the theory of Virginia Henderson. Nurses inform, educate, provide emotional support, coordinate and motivate relatives. Discussion: Nurses play an extremely important role in the care of elderly people with head injuries. They perform their work with a high degree of dedication and professionalism, facing various challenges on a daily basis. Based on a comprehensive assessment of the individual's needs, they make customized nursing diagnoses, and at the same time perform all 14 basic life activities according to the Virginia Henderson model. As a key link between the elderly, their loved ones and the multidisciplinary team, they provide holistic treatment and contribute to improving the quality of life and recovery of the elderly.
