Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava zdrs medvretenčne ploščice (hernijo diska), ki je ena najpogostejših degenerativnih bolezni hrbtenice in pomembno vpliva na kakovost življenja posameznikov.

Abstract:The subject of the diploma thesis is spinal disc herniation (herniated disk), one of the most frequent degenerative spine diseases which significantly affects the individual's quality of life. The purpose of the thesis was to research, by reviewing the scientific literature, the effectiveness and the usefulness of the spinal disc herniation treatment using the McKenzie method. The empirical part is based on the qualitative analysis of the selected scientific articles that were chosen using previously determined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis showed that the McKenzie method is effective in reducing pain as well as improving spine mobility, functional capabilities and the quality of life of patients with a herniated disc. Its key advantages include a structured and individualized approach, and an emphasis on the patient’s active cooperation and ability to exercise at home, which encourages independence and long-term management of the disease. The method is especially effective in reducing chronic lower back pain and in patients without severe neurological disorders. Optimal results are achieved with a combination of the McKenzie method and other physiotherapy techniques, such as core stability exercises, electrotherapy and manual therapy.
