Namen: V diplomskem delu smo s pregledom strokovne in znanstvene literature raziskovali psihosocialno podporo reševalcem.

Abstract:Introduction: Emergency medical responders often face extremely difficult and traumatic events, that may lead to PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and other mental health issues. Their mental well-being can be influenced by exposure to various dangerous situations, challenging working conditions, continuous external pressure and person’s own expectations can seriously influence mental well-being. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis was to investigate psychosocial support for emergency medical responders by exploring relevant scientific and professional literature. Methodology:We reviewed the literature using PRISMA flow diagrams. The articles were selected by predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria for their relevance to the research questions. Results: We included eight articles in our review, all based on qualitative research. The findings indicate a strong need for further development and adaptation of psychosocial support programs tailored to the specific needs of emergency medical personnel, with a focus on accessible and sustainable solutions. It would also be reasonable to consider implementing stress prevention strategies such as supervision sessions, mindfulness techniques, and relaxation methods. During the research, we noted a lack of literature focused exclusively on healthcare rescuers. Most existing sources also include other emergency services, such as police and firefighters, which limited our search. Further research in this specific area is necessary. Discussion and Conclusion: In the future, further research is necessary to better understand the unique needs and effective preventive strategies for stress management of emergency medical responders, because current data is limited. In this profession, stress and burnout are major challenges that can have significant impact on mental health and quality of provided care.
