Abstract:When we are in the store, trying to decide what product to choose, we are usually not aware of origin. We don't know in which conditions the final product was made. If we look from perspective of fair paiment, we have done our part in wich we paid the fair price. Unfortunately, this mind set does't continue through the product chain. Fair paiment is not distributed fairly to every participant. It is not rare that someone who has participated in product making or product supply, is not paid fairly or has violated human rights. Ecological impact in the manufacture of a product or in the production of a raw material is very often overlooked. Since we are globally connected we have to keep in our mind what is happening behind our horizon, because it affects us sooner or later. In order to make purchasing decisions easier, it is normal that we include environmental data in the declaration. Chocolate is just one of the products whose raw material comes from developing countries. Obtaining this raw material is in many cases controversial and ethnically challenging. Our task is to research whether people are aware of the circumstances of the raw materials for chocolate and whether they know what kind of ecological impact the production of the raw material is for it. We have axplored whether it is more important to the consumer that the product is made in his country, thus showing the influence of ethnocentrism or, more importantly, that the product is ethically unquestionable.
