Abstract:V diplomski nalogi smo podrobneje predstavili vzroke, ki so pripeljali do potreb po ustanovah, kot so zdajšnji domovi za upokojence, in razvoj zdravstvene nege skozi čas.

Abstract:This paper presents in detail the reasons for establishment of institutions such as modern retirement homes and the development of health care over time. The main data were obtained through qualitative interviews conducted with highly professional workers who were or still are employed in such institutions, with an overview of academic literature emphasising guidelines for the future and an in-depth overview of work organisation in the Kranj Retirement Home where we act as head of the technical unit. First, we focused on the population who needed such an institution for their own survival. Some people came to the institution to pass away peacefully instead of dying in a ditch; for this reason, these institutions were first called hospices. We go on to describe how overall development and increasing demands for healthcare resulted in the development of healthcare that is today extremely highly developed. The aim of the research is to envisage guidelines of substantive development as well as development of healthcare in retirement homes in the period from 2020 to 2030. With the help of such research, professionals could prepare for changes in technology that will be a result of development in the future. When it comes to development, the Long-Term Care Act will play a very significant role. This Act will determine the organisation structure and the performed activities in retirement homes in the future.
