Title:Prometno stanje in razvojne priložnosti Bohinjske železnice

Abstract:Bohinjska železnica je danes 129 kilometrov dolga železniška povezava med Jesenicami in Sežano, ki povezuje gorenjsko, goriško in obalno-kraško statistično regijo. Njen potek je zaradi zgodovinske gospodarske pomembnosti umeščen v alpsko-jadranski prostor, kar je razlog za prečenje alpskih pregrad, rečnih dolin in kraške planote. Posledica takšnega poteka je njena težavnost, kar dokazujejo strmi vzponi oziroma padci proge, številni predori, galerije, viadukti, mostovi in prepusti, ki spadajo med presežnike na slovenskem železniškem omrežju. Takšna težavna železniška gradnja je posledica gostih prometnih tokov v času Avstro-Orgske monarhije iz smeri zgornjeavstrijskih dežel in Češke proti Trstu. Zaradi pestrega zgodovinskega dogajanja po razpadu cesarstva, so se omenjeni prometni tokovi preusmerili ali popolnoma usahnili, zaradi česar se je zmanjšala tudi pomembnost proge. Slednje je v kombinaciji s potekom po sorazmerno slabo poseljenih območjih vseh treh statističnih regij razlog, da se je v preteklosti ni pretirano obnavljalo ali nadgrajevalo, zaradi česar ima danes obravnavana železnica izredno zastarelo tirno, postajno in signalnovarnostno infrastrukturo ter tirna vozila. Prav tako se ji zaradi vseh zgoraj navedenih razlogov ne namenja večje in pomembnejše vloge na potniškem ali tovornem področju v prihodnosti. S pričujočo magistrsko nalogo želimo dokazati, da je takšno stališče napačno. S kombinacijo študije primera in metodološkim opazovanjem smo naredili temeljito analizo trenutnega stanja na progi in z različnimi primerjavami ter morebitnimi prihodnjimi perspektivami izluščili njen izredno velik prometni potencial, ki še zdaleč ni tako omejen, kot ga lahko vidimo danes. S kombinacijo dveh metodoloških pristopov smo progo analizirali s treh vidikov: pestre preteklosti, stanja v današnjem času ter morebitne perspektive v prihodnosti. Ugotovili smo, da je njena svetla prihodnost in povečana prometna pomembnost mogoča predvsem z večjim vlaganjem v dotrajano infrastrukturo in tirna vozila ter smiselnim kombiniranjem potniškega in tovornega prometa.

Title:State of traffic and develomental opportunities on the Bohinj railway
Abstract:Bohinj railway is a 129km long railway connection between Jesenice and Sežana, connecting the Alpine, Gorizia and Littoral-Karst statistical regions. Its route is located in Alpine-Adriatic region due to historical economic importance, which is also the reason for overcoming Alpine partitions, river valleys and Karst plateau. As a result, the route is a very difficult one, which is shown in steep inclines and declines, multiple tunnels, galleries viaducts, bridges and overhangs that represent engineering wonders of Slovene railway system. Such a difficult engineering project is a result of dense traffic currents from the times of Austro-Hungarian Empire from lands of Upper Austria and Czechia towards Trieste. Historical happenings after the dissolution of the Empire made the mentioned traffic currents steer in a different direction or stopped them altogether. As such, the route itself also lost a lot of its importance. That, in combination with the route passing through a sparsely populated area of the three statistical regions, is a reason why the route hasn't been maintained or renovated properly. Due to this, the Bohinj railway of today sports a very old track, station and signalisation infrastructure, which includes the vehicles running on the route. This master's thesis tries to show that this mentality is wrong. Combining case studies with methodological observation helped us make a thorough analysis of the route's current state while comparisons and potential future perspectives helped us understand the route's traffic potential, which is larger than we see today. With the help of combining two methodological approaches, the route has been analysed through three angles: colourful past, current state, and possible future. We found out that the railway's bright future and bigger transport importance is possible only with higher investments in obsolete infrastructure and new rail vehicles combined with reasonable combination of passanger and freight traffic.
