Title:Srečanje dveh poslovnih kultur: primerjava ZDA in Slovenije : magistrska naloga

Abstract:Zaradi globalizacije so mogoča čedalje pogostejša kulturna stikanja. Cilj raziskave v tem magistrskem delu je bil proučiti poslovni kulturi ZDA in Slovenije ter prednosti ali težav njunega medsebojnega srečanja. Teoretično raziskovanje je dopolnjeno z empiričnim raziskovanjem, izvedenim s polstrukturiranimi intervjuji. Na podlagi empirične raziskave je mogoče sklepno ugotoviti: da so med podjetji v različnih poslovnih okoljih zanesljivo razlike, te ne izhajajo nujno le iz poslovnega sveta, ampak iz življenja ljudi in družbe v zadevni državi na splošno. Nekatere razlike so predvsem v tem, kako pristopiti k prepričanju za poslovno sodelovanje. Američani so bolj odprti za poslovanje in prej zaupajo v poslovno sodelovanje, Slovenci pa so močno stisnjeni v kalupe administracije. Ni mogoče neposredno primerjati poslovanja kar v vseh državah povprek. Ugotoviti pa je mogoče še, da so v ameriških podjetjih s komunikacijo bolj odkriti, dobiti je mogoče več informacij kot v Sloveniji. Komunikacija je bolj realna in odgovori so bolj pošteni, slovenski poslovneži so bolj zadržani na sestankih in redko povedo informacije. Vtisi poslovanja Američanov s Slovenci kažejo, da se slovenski način dela močno razlikuje od ameriškega, vendar tisti, ki poslujejo tudi z drugimi evropskimi državami, ugotavljajo, da se slovenski način dela ne razlikuje pomembno od preostalega evropskega. Je pa mogoče opaziti razlike v delu in ravnanju družb in poslovnih subjektov zunaj Evrope. Poslovneži, ki so sodelovali v raziskavi, so izrecno opozorili na razlike poslovanja z azijskimi podjetji, saj naj bi bila načina poslovanja in komunikacije pomembno različna od tistih v drugih okoljih. Ključno pri tem je, so poudarili, da se je nujno poučiti o načinu poslovanja v zadevnih državah, prepoznati te razlike, se ustrezno prilagoditi in usmeriti poslovanje podjetja na tako pot, da ustreza poslovanju v zadevni tuji državi. Kot še ugotavljajo sodelujoči v raziskavi, se v vsaki državi kultura in navade močno spreminjajo.

Title:The encounter of two business cultures: a comparison of the USA and Slovenia : masters thesis
Abstract:Due to globalisation, more and more frequent cultural encounters are possible. The aim of the research in this master thesis was to examine the business cultures of the USA and Slovenia and the advantages or difficulties of their meeting each other. The theoretical research is complemented by empirical research conducted through semi-structured interviews. The empirical research leads to the following conclusion: that there are certainly differences between companies in different business environments, and that these differences do not necessarily stem only from the business world, but from the life of the people and society in the country in question in general. Some of the differences are mainly in how to approach to the business cooperation. Americans are more open for business and more likely gain trust in business cooperation, while Slovenians are very much narrow-sided due to the administration. It is not possible to directly compare business in all countries. American companies are more open in their communication and more information is available than in Slovenia. Communication is more realistic and answers are more honest, Slovenian business people are more reserved in meetings and rarely give information. Americans' impressions of doing business with Slovenians show that the Slovenian way of working is very different from the American way of working, but those who also do business with other European countries find that the Slovenian way of working is not significantly different from the rest of Europe. However, there are differences in the way companies and business entities work and behave outside Europe. Business people who took part in the survey explicitly pointed to differences in doing business with Asian companies, as the way of doing business and communicating are said to be significantly different from those in other environments. The key here, they stressed, is to educate oneself about the way of doing business in the countries in question, to recognise these differences, to adapt accordingly and to steer the company's business in a way that suits the business in the foreign country in question. As the respondents to the survey also noted, culture and habits vary considerably from country to country.
