Abstract:Mladostništvo je zaradi hitrih sprememb na vseh treh omenjenih razsežnostih in drugih sprememb že samo po sebi zahtevno in stresno obdobje.

Title:SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION, HAZARDOUS ALCOHOL CONSUMPTIONS AND SATISFACTION IN LIFE BETWEEN PHYSICAL ACTIV AND UNACTIVE STUDENTS
Abstract:Adolescence is an inherently challenging and stressful period due to the rapid changes in all three of these dimensions and others, and adolescents are confronted daily with a variety of stressors, difficulties and hardships, often stemming from their own rising expectations, as well as those of their parents and their immediate surroundings. During the crucial developmental period of adolescence, symptoms of depression and risky drinking patterns become more frequent. Sport and physical activity can protect against the onset of mental health problems and increase life satisfaction. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of depressive symptoms, risky and harmful drinking patterns and life satisfaction among sport-active and sport-naïve students in a secondary medical school. Participants were students aged 15-19 years (M=17.03, SD=1.38) of both genders (M=57, F=63). 83 were active in sport and 37 were inactive. The CES-D, AUDIT and SWLS tests were used for the purpose of the study. We found that students report low mean values on the CES-D (10, 56), AUDIT (2.50) and high mean values on the SWLS (24.39). There are no statistically significant differences between genders on the CES-D, AUDIT and SWLS. Physically active students report statistically significantly higher mean values on the AUDIT and SWLS. In conclusion, secondary medical school students report relatively low depressive symptomatology, low risky drinking patterns and good life satisfaction. Typically, sport-active students are more satisfied with life, but it is also true that they show significantly more risky drinking patterns. It would undoubtedly be important in future research to look at the personality structure of secondary medical school students and, in particular, the presence of a will to meaning.
