Poleg zmanjšane ruminacije, na kar kaže deskriptivna analiza, so udeleženci poročali o naslednjih pozitivnih učinkih vizualizacijske tehnike: umirjenost telesa, umirjenost misli, sprememba negativnih čustev v pozitivne, manjša impulzivnost, boljše spanje in boljše delovanje v medosebnih odnosih.

Title:THE EFFECTS OF ONE MONTH PRACTICE OF THE BODY-MIND VISUALISATION TECHNIQUE ON THE PHENOMENON OF RUMINATION IN AN INDIVIDUAL
Abstract:Mind-body techniques are still a rather unexplored area, despite being historically used among the oldest civilizations. Their usefulness and the effects they bring, such as body relaxation and calming the mind, makes them an excellent method that can be used by both individuals as well as counselors or therapists in their practice. In this work, we tried to determine the effects of a one-month practice of visualization techniques and their effect on the appearance of rumination in an individual. This was researched using qualitative research, which was also enriched by a shorter quantitative study. The study involved 10 individuals who participated in individual workshops where we conducted a guided visualization focused on reducing rumination. Before and after the workshops, participants solved the Reflection and Rumination Questionnaire (RRQ) and shorter evaluation questionnaires on each workshop. Participants attended a 45- minute workshop for four consecutive weeks. At the end, we conducted an interview with each participant to explore what effects participation had on the individuals and, in particular, whether they had noticed any changes in the occurrence of rumination and in what way the implementation of the visualization technique helped them in dealing with rumination. We concluded that the techniques had a positive effect on individuals, as they reported lower weight, power and number of unwanted repetitive thoughts. The technique of guided visualization which we chose in our research was shown to be effective, as it equipped the person with knowledge, diverted their attention from thoughts to the body or breathing, and distanced the person from those thoughts. In addition to reduced rumination, which we were able to confirm through statistical analysis of the data, participants reported the following positive effects of visualization technique: calmness of the body, calmness of thought, change of negative emotions to positive, reduced impulsivity, better sleep and better function in interpersonal relationships.
